Doreen Colondres is the creator of The Kitchen Doesn’t Bite and the cookbook author of La Cocina No Muerde, published by Penguin Random House.
An active media personality, chef, certified wine connoisseur (WSET3), and tireless world traveler. Passionate about cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients, Doreen Colondre's mission relies on encouraging people to enjoy cooking and to embrace the time we spend eating.
Her 2018 partnerships includes Barilla Pasta, the National Pork Board for the Pork es Sabor campaign and she also partnered as a Corporate Chef for the Spanish brand Fermin Iberico, producer of the prestigious Jamón Iberico de Bellota. For the past four years, she has also been a Chef Ambassador for Novo Nordisk Pharmaceutical. Doreen has done more than 100 shows around the nation inspiring us to live a healthier lifestyle with a powerful campaign to increase awareness about obesity and diabetes.
Last year she was a spokesperson for the Hass Avocado and the American Heart Association for the Healthy for Good campaign. And in 2015, she designed a healthy meal plan for Univision’s campaign Reto28, to encourage Latinos to live a healthier life. The campaign was supported by the American Heart Association and it achieved more than half a million subscribers in 2 weeks.
Doreen hosts frequent cooking segments on Telemundo and Univisión and hosted 3 cooking shows with FoxLife & Utilísima in Latin America. Her weekly articles feature in more than 10 outlets around the nation and she was a successful Food and Wine Editor for Meredith Publishing for 7 years.
She is also a passionate wine lover. In 2014, Doreen became the first Hispanic Celebrity Chef for Bordeaux Wine Council, the most prestigious wine region in the world. In 2015, worked as a judge and spokesperson for the DO Ribera del Duero 2011 vintage in Spain and in 2016, she was adventurous enough to work her first harvest season at Chateau Biac in Bordeaux, France. Bodegas Monteviejo selected her for two consecutive years as a chef for the prestigious Park Hyatt Mendoza Master of Food and Wine in Argentina.
Doreen is certified with WSET 3 (Wine & Spirits Education Trust), Court of Master Sommelier 1, US Sommelier Association 2 and École du Vin in Bordeaux. She also has a BBA in Marketing and studied in culinary schools in NY, CA and FL.
She had worked with: Martin Codax Albariño, Bumble Bee Seafood, Fresh Fruits from Chile, Certified Angus Beef, Bush Beans, Target, General Mills, NAHREP and California Raisins, among others.
Doreen is a Slow Food USA supporter and participates in food and wine programs in Italy, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Colombia, Mexico, Greece and Spain, among others.
